Mankovice: Hotels and Accommodation

The most significant monument in Mankovice is the Kostel Navštívení Panny Marie Church. It was built in 1795 to replace an older, dilapidated wooden church.

Culture and History

Opposite the church, on a small meadow between the houses, stands the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, erected in 1761. The Kaplička Panny Marie Chapel, also known as Weißova kaple, already existed or was just being completed in 1818. It has been protected as a cultural monument since April 19, 2024.

The historic Amber Road ran through Mankovice along the Odra Corridor.

Park and Local History

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, restored in 2023, became part of the Moravských bratří Park. When it opened, the park was accessible to visitors around the clock and provided space for recreation and relaxation.

Information boards in the park present the history of the Moravian Brethren in three thematic areas: from Jan Hus to the exile of Jan Amos Komenský, the journey to Herrnhut, and life in the missions and Matouš Stach in Greenland.

The park has drinking water from a restored drinking fountain and an original well. Both water sources are bordered with stones from the local banks of the Odra.

Landscape

The boundary of the CHKO Poodří Protected Landscape Area begins at Mankovice railway station. Meandry staré Odry is a nature monument.
