Kobeřice Ve Slezsku: Hotels and Accommodation

Kobeřice is located in the Hlučín Upland in the valley of the Bílý potok, also known as the Oldřišovský potok, and belongs to the Hlučínsko cultural region.

Landscape

The Kobeřické motýlí stráně are thermophilous dry grasslands on a slope of the gypsum quarry near Kobeřice. Protected and endangered species occur in this area; it is also home to up to 32 species of diurnal butterflies. Visitors should not enter the fenced-off areas while sheep are grazing.

Culture and History

The Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie church is a Neo-Gothic church built in 1895–1896 on the site of an older wooden church. Its 52-metre-high tower is part of a three-nave floor plan in the shape of a Latin cross. The church also has a Stations of the Cross with 14 stations in Gothic frames, made by the C. Buhla workshop from Breslau.

In Mlýnská Street in Kobeřice there is a group of 13 timber-framed granaries from the 18th and 19th centuries, recognized as examples of vernacular architecture. The oldest of the wooden granaries dates from 1777. In the western part of the Kobeřice parish district stands the Kaple svatého Urbana chapel beneath a centuries-old, broad-canopied linden tree. The Kaple Nejsvětější Trojice chapel is located between Kobeřice and Rohov. Čujkův mlýn is designated as a technical monument and mill complex in Kobeřice.

Routes and Events

The 16-kilometre-long cycle path 6054 runs from Velké Hoštice via Chlebičov, Oldřišov and Služovice, past St. Urban to Kobeřice, and continues to Střední Dvůr and Albertovec. The 14-kilometre-long cycle route 552 from Opava to Racibórz passes through Kobeřice to the Strahovice/Krzanowice border crossing and runs away from roads for motor vehicles.

The Koberský odpust is an annual three-day weekend festival held around 15 August, the feast day of the patron saint of the Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie church. The festival includes a funfair, market stalls, an extensive cultural programme and screenings at the summer cinema.
