Mladecko: Hotels and Accommodation

The Jakartovice Nature Monument protects the dusky large blue butterfly (Maculinea nausithous), a Natura 2000 species, and also includes the cadastral area of Mladecko. The nature monument comprises alluvial, species-poor wet meadows, a meandering watercourse and an alluvial forest lined with ash and alder trees.

Nature

The Přírodovědná naučná stezka Mladeckem nature trail has ten stations covering the history of the school and the village, as well as the region’s basic ecosystems. It also provides information about nature conservation. The general public can use the trail to learn about Mladecko’s geological past and natural environment.

A green-marked hiking trail leads from Mladecko railway station to the Kružberk Reservoir after approximately 9 kilometres. Excursion No. 4 of the Municipality of Mladecko is a 52-kilometre visitor route starting in Mladecko.

Culture and History

The Chapel of St. Joseph was built in 1882. It contains a Neo-Gothic altar and a statue of St. John of Nepomuk from the early 19th century; a cross dating from 1904 stands in front of the chapel.

Blockhouse No. 44 is an immovable cultural monument and a vernacular wooden house built in the East Sudeten style in 1830.

A former castle was built in Mladecko at the end of the 17th century and demolished in 1772. A new Empire-style château was subsequently built in Mladecký Dvůr at the beginning of the 19th century; an extensive landscaped park was later created around it.

Railways and the History of Technology

The Opava východ–Svobodné Heřmanice railway line runs through the northern part of Mladecko. The premises of the Military History Club are located 600 metres from Mladecko railway station and display historical military and civilian vehicles as well as aviation technology. Each year, the club organises the “Výstava vojenské techniky” military technology exhibition in Mladecko.
