Mokré Lazce: Hotels and Accommodation
Mokré Lazce is a place where sacred architectural history, community meeting places, sport and an unusual palaeontological trace come together.
Culture and History
The Church of St John the Baptist, a protected cultural monument, is at the heart of the village’s history. In the 16th century, the Tvorkovští family had a wooden church built in Mokré Lazce and entrusted it to the administration of the Dominican Order. In 2024, the Mokré Lazce parish took part in the Night of Churches and offered, among other things, an exhibition on the history of the church and parish, a musical performance and an interactive programme for children at the local church. The Chapel of St Anne is a small Baroque chapel dating from 1747, located on a road within the built-up area of the village. In the wider regional surroundings of Mokré Lazce, Rzuchow - Zameczek is a castle, while Cvilin is a ruin.
Community and Activity
The Areál Na skalách is a meeting place for local residents and people from the surrounding area. A maypole is traditionally erected there, and official events and informal gatherings are also held there. From the village, the Areál Na skalách is best reached through a pedestrian tunnel. The Lyžařský klub Mokré Lazce offers competitive and recreational sports in cross-country and alpine skiing, road cycling, mountain biking and recreational tourism, and organises road cycling and mountain bike races.
Nature
Mokré Lazce–Lipovice is a palaeontological site. The holotype of a trigonotarbid arachnid was found at this site; the oldest fossil of a land animal discovered in the territory of today’s Czech Republic was also found there. The only access route to the Mokré Lazce–Lipovice palaeontological site is now heavily obstructed and severely overgrown.
