Staré Těchanovice: Hotels and Accommodation

At the western edge of Staré Těchanovice lies the Těchanovická lookout, 1 km from the Kružberk Dam. In good visibility, the view extends across the dam and the former Velký Roudný volcano to the Jeseníky Mountains; it also offers a bird’s-eye view of the Staré Těchanovice valley.

Nature

The cadastral area of Staré Těchanovice lies within the protected zone of the Moravice Nature Park. The Těchanovická lookout is freely accessible to tourists and the public. It is generally open year-round, but may be temporarily closed for safety or technical reasons. The Slate Trail passes by the lookout and leads towards Staré Těchanovice and the restored Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.

History

The Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers in Staré Těchanovice dates from 1928 and can be reached from Staré Těchanovice via field and forest paths. Lesy České republiky restored it to its original condition in 2008 and 2009. Before 1940, the chapel was a pilgrimage site regularly visited by pilgrims on 26 June. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Staré Těchanovice dates from 1838.

Mineral springs in Jánské Koupele have been documented since 1640. The Jánské Koupele spa was founded in 1811 with the construction of its first spa building. The former spa complex has been listed in the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic since 2005 and comprises eleven buildings with plots of land in the valley on both banks of the Moravice near Staré Těchanovice in the Opava District.
