Charváty: Hotels and accommodations

Charváty combines a striking historical landmark with cultural monuments in its local districts, the natural landscape along the Morava River, and a cycling route that passes through the village. The Church of St. John the Baptist is Charváty’s most important landmark.

Culture and history

The Church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1582 under Olomouc Bishop Stanislav II Pavlovský. Jan Sarkander is also associated with the parish of Charváty, where he worked in 1610 and 1611.

At the exit toward Tážaly stands the heritage-listed statue of St. John of Nepomuk from 1773. In Čertoryje there is a statue of St. Mark from the 1720s, which was moved there from Hradisko Monastery in 1825. The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk also stands in Čertoryje. In Drahlov, a memorial chapel of the Virgin Mary from the second half of the 19th century commemorates the religious history of the local districts.

Nature

The area around the Morava River in Charváty provides a habitat for aquatic animals and birds. The Morava–Chropyňský luh area protects floodplain forests, wet meadows, and aquatic habitats. Species found there include, among others, the European beaver and the great crested newt.

Cycling route and sports

The Moravská stezka route passes through Charváty and continues to Dub nad Moravou. Along the cycling route through Charváty, there are refreshment stops and opportunities for sports activities.

The Moravský veslařský klub Haná offers year-round rowing training for young people and organizes sports camps.
