Želatovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Želatovice lies in a gently hilly landscape in a hollow beneath the slopes of the surrounding local hills. At the same time, the village is situated at the transition between Haná and Záhoří.

History and Monuments

The first written mention of Želatovice dates from 1282 and is found in a document of Hradisko Monastery near Olomouc. One of the village’s historic monuments is the statue of St. John of Nepomuk from 1738. It is listed under registration no. 610 in the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic.

On the village square in Želatovice stands a monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars. Another memorial is the monument to František Běhal in front of House No. 31. It identifies him as a Czechoslovak fighter pilot serving abroad who fell in the Battle of Southern England on 11 May 1941.

Chapels and Crosses

The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk stands in the middle of the village green west of the municipal office building at No. 32. The building was constructed in the Neo-Romanesque style as a masonry structure. Since 1993, Mass has been celebrated there every year on 16 May, the feast of St. John of Nepomuk.

A chapel on the village square in Želatovice dates from 1857. A stone cross by House No. 104 dates from 1849, and another stone cross near the chapel from 1898.

Cycle Path and Sporting Event

The “Želatovice–Přerov, Boundary of the Želatovice Cadastral Area” cycle path project was implemented in 2011. FC Želatovice also organizes the International Youth Tournament “Memoriál Ladislava Němce a Viléma Zbořila.” The 33rd edition took place from 5 to 7 June 2026 at the FC Želatovice sports complex.
