Kladníky: Hotels and Accommodation

Kladníky lies on the southeastern slopes of the Maleník massif and in the valley of the Šišemka River. The history of the village began in the second half of the 14th century. Thus, a clearly defined landscape setting meets several surviving testimonies from the village’s history here.

Location and History

The historical development of Kladníky is closely connected with the local fortress. In 1372, brothers from Kladníky received Kladníky Fortress as a fief from Margrave John Henry. During the Thirty Years’ War, the local fortress fell into disrepair. The site where the fortress is presumed to have stood is located in the northern part of the village near houses no. 4 and 5; the place was formerly called “Zámčisko”.

Chapel and Sacred Monuments

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built in 1925 on the site of a bell tower erected as early as 1848 and consecrated on 13 September 1925. A memorial plaque commemorating those who fell in the First World War is located at the chapel. A statue of Saint Anthony also stands next to the chapel in Kladníky.

Further religious monuments stand at the village exits and in the surrounding area: at the Kladníky exit towards Hlinsko stands a statue of Jesus Christ, while at the exit towards Lhota stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. A wooden cross stands at the village exit towards Bezuchov and Šišma. A statue of Our Lady of Hostýn stands by the windmill in Kladníky.

The Former Windmill

The former wooden windmill in Kladníky dates from 1829. It was protected as an immovable cultural monument from 3 May 1958 to 28 August 2008; this protection is no longer in effect. The interior of the Kladníky windmill was transferred to the Wallachian Open-Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in 1983. Insufficient maintenance led to the complete destruction of the former windmill’s framework.

Cycling Route

The Záhorská cycling route passes through Kladníky on a circular route from Lipník nad Bečvou. The route is approximately 39 kilometres long and is particularly suitable for trekking bikes.
