Lipník Nad Bečvou: Hotels and Accommodation
Lipník nad Bečvou is defined by an urban conservation area designated in 1989. It comprises approximately 190 houses and smaller, predominantly sacred buildings; 105 structures within the conservation area are designated as immovable cultural monuments.
City History and Buildings
Among the preserved monuments is the bell tower of Lipník nad Bečvou, the only one in Moravia that has survived in its original late Renaissance form. From 1 May to 30 September, it is accessible exclusively as part of a guided city tour. The remains of the city fortifications are among the best-preserved city walls in Moravia; the walls are visible around the entire historic city centre.
The clock mechanism in Lipník nad Bečvou is also a rare technical monument. When it was created, the rooftop garden complex was the first rooftop garden complex north of the Alps. To this day, the Piarist College retains its 18th-century layout with two courtyards and a monumental façade. Johann Gregor Mendel attended the Piarist school in Lipník nad Bečvou in 1833–1834.
