Lobodice – Nature Reserve, Morava and Village History

Lobodice is one of the cadastral areas over which the Zástudánčí National Nature Reserve extends. It covers the cadastral areas of Lobodice and Tovačov, protects a preserved floodplain forest along an unregulated course of the Morava as well as a rich bird-breeding area, was designated on 24 February 1953, and covers 111.2782 hectares.

Nature

The reserve is considered an important resting zone for disturbance-sensitive bird species; white-tailed eagles, ospreys, black kites and goosanders can be observed there. Předina Hill is located in the vicinity of Lobodice. The hill Vysoká Kopcová [Troubky nad Bečvou] is located in the immediate vicinity of Lobodice, as is the hill Zadní Díly [Uhřičice]. Chlum Hill is located in the wider regional surroundings of Lobodice.

Culture

The parish church of Neposkvrněného Početí Panny Marie stands on the village square in Lobodice; it is a valuable Baroque building dating from 1771. In the park on the village square, in front of the church, stands a life-size sandstone statue of sv. Jana Nepomuckého on a high pedestal. On the right side of the road from Polkovice stands the four-sided Boží muka wayside shrine from the mid-19th century. The stone cross at the intersection leading to Polkovice dates from 1717.

The preserved building of the power station in Lobodice retains part of its original façade with the inscription “Elektrárna města Kojetína” and an archbishop's coat of arms bearing the year 1704. House No. 47 on the village square in Lobodice is a preserved Žudr with exterior vaults that date, together with the house, from the 17th century. Hody festivities take place in Lobodice every year toward the end of summer.
