Milotice nad Bečvou lies on the right bank of the middle course of the Bečva. The village is located on the road from Hranice via Hustopeče nad Bečvou towards Valašské Meziříčí. Between the ČD railway line and the Bečva are four lakes with a total area of 27.872 hectares. The Bečva cycle path from Hustopeče nad Bečvou to Špičky runs through the village.

Bodies of Water and Nature

The Hustopeče-Štěrkáč Nature Monument also includes the cadastral area of Milotice nad Bečvou and protects the habitat of the beetle Cucujus cinnaberinus. Holiday cottages stand on the shores of Lakes 2 and 3. Lakes 2 to 5 of the Bečva 5A fishing district offer opportunities for the development of sport fishing.

History and Village Character

The first written mention of Milotice nad Bečvou dates from 1131. The triangular layout of the village square with a chapel is considered evidence of the village’s great age. The Chapel of Saint Anne in Milotice nad Bečvou was built in 1853 at the expense of the municipality and with the support of local residents.

The history of the Struha millrace dates back to the 15th century. The Milotický mlýn mill stands on the artificial millrace called Struha, at house no. 13.

Remembrance and Traditions

Near the local chapel in Milotice nad Bečvou stands a granite monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars. The monument was unveiled on June 25, 1933, and later supplemented with the names of citizens who fell between 1939 and 1945.

The evening program of the Hody festival in Milotice nad Bečvou included a live music event.
