Prosenice: Hotels and Accommodation

Prosenice lies in the flat landscape of the Moravian Gate, about 5 km from Přerov. The Strhanec water canal flows through the centre.

Landscape

The Bečva flows through the cadastral area of Prosenice; there are also several ponds there.

Cycle Path

The Bečva Cycle Path passes through Prosenice; the route runs through the village and is described for cyclists, inline skaters, tourists and cross-country skiers. The relevant section of the Bečva Cycle Path is 65 km long in total.

Culture and History

The church in Prosenice, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, is a monument of local importance and was built between 1787 and 1788. The mill with a Žudr in Prosenice dates from the 18th century. A school building dates from 1859, and Prosenice is home to a more than 200-year-old bell tower.

At the Prosenice Museum, practical demonstrations of traditional crafts, workshops for children, discussion events and concerts are offered. The museum shows how the village lived about a hundred years ago, local crafts, agricultural equipment, and exhibitions on the local sugar factory, brickyard and dairy.

The former cadastral municipalities of Velké Prosenice and Malé Prosenice were merged into one municipality in 1948. Based on the settlement pattern of the oldest part of the village, Prosenice appears to have been one of the old Slavic villages of the street-shaped circular-village type; part of this settlement form is still recognisable in the buildings today.
