Mořice: Hotels and Accommodations

Mořice can be explored through specific sites, natural areas, and historical landmarks. At the Mokroš Biocentre, a floodplain habitat represents meadows, woodland, and wetland. As an educational area, it is open to the public and contains native as well as deliberately expanded flora. The Mokroš educational trail has five information panels; Mokroš offers a suitable setting for walks and nature observation.

Culture and History

The complex of the Church of St. Martin comprises the church, a mortuary, the old part of the cemetery, an enclosing wall, a gate, and a small wicket gate.

The “Smírčí kříž pokutný” reconciliation cross is the oldest monument in Mořice and dates from 1430. It is carved from coarse-grained sandstone; a carved stabbing weapon is visible on its reverse side.

The “Boží muka” wayside shrine in Mořice was erected in 2008. It commemorates a local tragedy. According to an entry in the local chronicle, 18-year-old František Čičinský hanged himself here about 180 years ago, presumably because of unrequited love.

Mořice Castle has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958.

Learning Sites

The Zahrada pěti smyslů serves children from Mořice and the neighboring villages. It includes educational beds with traditional rural plants as well as medicinal herbs and shrubs. As a learning and recreational area, it has stations for all five senses.

Event

The Revival Festival Mořice is a summer open-air festival for revival bands; it has been a tradition there since 2001.
