Discover Kralice na Hané: Haná Landscape and History

Kralice na Hané is located 5 km east of Prostějov in the fertile Haná plain. The village lies on a low terrace at the northeastern edge of the broad floodplain of the Valová, below its confluence with the Romže.

History and Architectural Heritage

Kralice na Hané was first documented in 1225. In 1316, John of Luxembourg granted the village its own laws; at that time, Kralice na Hané already had the right to levy tolls within a mile.

The parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built between 1790 and 1793. It is protected as an immovable cultural monument and is listed in the central register of immovable cultural monuments of the Czech Republic.

Kralice na Hané Chateau stands on the site of a former fortress; the present building dates from 1637. The Seilern family subsequently used the chateau as a summer residence for 100 years.

In the settlement of Kraličky, the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk stands in the middle of the village street. The Renaissance church tower from 1578 survived later alterations and forms the basis of the present-day tower. The hexagonal Chapel of the Holy Cross at the cemetery dates from 1823. Kralice na Hané is also home to the Chapel of St. Vitus; a monumental 19th-century cross stands in front of it.

Community Life and Activities

The municipal tennis court can be used for tennis, badminton, volleyball and nohejbal. In Kralice na Hané, at U Pivovaru, there is a multi-purpose playground for children.

The Haná singing and dance ensemble KLAS presents Haná traditions and customs through dance and song. It regularly performs at cultural events, including Kralické klebety and the Advent gathering.

The church choir performs in the local church at Easter, during the Hodové celebrations and at Christmas. Many residents from the municipality and the surrounding area take part in the Hodové celebrations in Kralice na Hané.

On 8 May 2026, the 13th walking pilgrimage from Kralice na Hané to Dub nad Moravou took place.

The monument Pomník obětem 1. světové války and the monument Socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého are located in the vicinity of Kralice na Hané.

The elevations Předina, Chlum and Horka, classified as mountains, are also located in the vicinity of Kralice na Hané. The name “Amerika” [Vrbátky - Dubany na Hané] is recorded in the area as a hill.

Kralice na Hané is served by six bus stops, including the central Kralice na Hané, Obecní úřad stop. The settlement of Kraličky is served by the Kraličky railway station on Line No. 301 between Nezamyslice, Prostějov and Olomouc.
