Oldřichov: Hotels and accommodations

Nature

The Libuška wetland lies behind Oldřichov and is the longest oxbow of the Bečva in the Moravian Gate. It comprises floodplain forests and pools. Near Libuška, there is a breeding site for about fifty sand martins and a kingfisher. In the immediate vicinity, there is also a flooded sand pit with stands of reeds, rushes, and sedges suitable for waterfowl. In the middle of a 200 m-wide oxbow pool lies a bird island of ornithological interest. The Libuška site is considered an important bird biocentre.

Cycling routes

Cycling route No. 6240, the Jantarová stezka, passes through Oldřichov. A rest area for cyclists has been established opposite the municipal office. Behind Oldřichov, cycling route No. 6239 runs along the Bečva, connecting Přerov and Lipník nad Bečvou. The Bečva cycling route is 65 km long and runs mostly along a cycle path closed to motor traffic. The 26 km section between Přerov and Hranice is almost entirely suitable for inline skating.

Townscape and history

The Chapel of the Apostles Philip and James on the village square in Oldřichov was built in 1899–1900 in memory of the great fire of 1874, which destroyed most of the houses in Oldřichov. The Chapel of Saints Philip and James was consecrated in 1902. The cross in front of the chapel dates from 1901 and was donated to the municipality by Anna Pumprlová. The war memorial in front of the chapel lists three citizens killed in the First World War and three in the Second World War. Next to the chapel cross and the war memorial stand two memorial lime trees; one was planted in 1938 and the other in 1948.

On the road toward Osek stands a statue of Our Lady of Svatý Hostýn dating from 1935. The statue of Saint Joseph, the foster father, was brought to the municipality from Osek around 1960.
