Hradčany: Hotels and accommodation

Hradčany lies in a valley through which the Šišemka stream flows. Geographically and culturally, the village belongs to Lipenské Záhoří, a region between the Hostýnské vrchy and the Bečva River. The history of the village is also documented from an early date: Hradčany has been mentioned in old documents, particularly ecclesiastical records, since as early as 1160.

Landscape and history

In the forest between Hradčany and Pavlovice are the remains of Hradčany Fortress. They appear as raised features on a flat spur. According to local legend, a water spirit once lived at a footbridge over the Šišemka near Hradčany.

Chapel and bell tower

The wooden bell tower, which had stood there since ancient times, was rebuilt as a masonry bell tower in the mid-19th century. In 2008, the nave of the present-day Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua was added to the bell tower. The newly built chapel is a defining feature of Hradčany’s spacious village square. The local religious tradition also includes the statue of Our Lady of Svatý Hostýn: it dates from 1912 and was commissioned at the expense of Antonie Hrbáčková.

Event and local detail

Hradčanské Vlnky is a running competition and cross-country trail race held in October. Hradčany also has a bus stop with a clock.
