Nature

The Dřevohostický les area also includes the cadastral territory of Radkovy. It covers 310 hectares; protected features include extensively mown meadows ranging from lowland areas to foothill locations, as well as oak-hornbeam forests. The Dřevohostický les is home to species-rich Carpathian oak-hornbeam forests with plants such as Hacquetia epipactis and Symphytum tuberosum.

Kelčský Javorník is a mountain in the vicinity of Radkovy, as is Holý vrch. Kleštěnec [Radkova Lhota] is a hill in the immediate vicinity of Radkovy.

History

The original settlement structure of Radkovy has been preserved as a linear village with an enlarged village square and is classified as an urbanistically valuable area. Archaeological finds in the fields around Radkovy and Radkova Lhota indicate that farming communities were already living there around the 5th millennium BC. Archaeological finds from the La Tène culture have also been discovered in the fields around Radkovy and Radkova Lhota.

The mill in Radkovy that still exists today is first mentioned in 1412. The Chapel of Saint Dominic in Radkovy was built in 1872. The bell of the local chapel was hidden during the First World War to prevent its confiscation by the Austrian authorities.

Culture

The local monuments of Radkovy include several historic crosses and statues of saints. The 1865 stone cross next to the Chapel of Saint Dominic is one of Radkovy's locally significant monuments; so are the 1948 statue of Saint Joseph next to the municipal office building on the village square, the 1900 statue of Saint John of Nepomuk next to road III/43724, and the 1921 statue of the Virgin Mary on the field path toward Bystřice pod Hostýnem.

The bear-leading tradition is one of Radkovy's village festivals and events.
