Stařechovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Stařechovice lies below Velký Kosíř, near the last foothills of the Drahanská vrchovina. The landscape includes the 42-hectare Brus Nature Monument in the Služín district, a botanical locality with forest and steppe communities.

Nature

The Velký Kosíř Nature Park extends across the cadastral areas of Stařechovice and Služín. This means that a protected nature monument and a nature park meet in the immediate vicinity of the village, while Stařechovice is also situated below Velký Kosíř.

Culture and History

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was completely rebuilt in 1718 in a restrained Baroque style. Its main altar is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The church houses the Stařechovice Madonna, made of limewood, measuring 114 centimetres and typologically belonging to the group of Madonnas of the so-called Beautiful Style.

In addition, a Gothic Madonna from the early 15th century has been preserved in Stařechovice; it is considered a monument of exceptional cultural and historical value. Numerous archaeological finds, particularly from the Bronze Age, have been discovered in Stařechovice.

Pilgrimage and Trails

The church feast falls on 8 September; the Stařechovice pilgrimage takes place on this day. The “Following Josef Mánes” hiking trail leads to the Stařechovice wayside cross. From there, the trail offers a detour into the village to the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.

Directly below Velký Kosíř, in the Služín district of Stařechovice, stands the Chapel of Saint Martin.
