Stínava: Hotels and Accommodation

Stínava lies at the foot of the Drahany Highlands at an elevation of 400 metres above sea level.

Nature

The Okluka stream flows around Stínava. Near the stream are the ponds of Stínava, which serve as a resting place for tourists passing through or hiking in the area. The ponds were created by restoring a former wetland and provide a habitat for wetland species, including snakes, newts, salamanders, snails, crayfish, various species of frogs, diving beetles, dragonflies, damselflies and aquatic plants.

Stínava is surrounded by forests, and its surroundings are suitable for walking. The Jesinková spring is located in the forest near Stínava.

Culture

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a cultural monument dating from the 13th century. Despite renovations in the 17th and 19th centuries, it has preserved its original character. In the presbytery behind the main altar, the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross preserves remnants of frescoes; it also possesses a bell dating from 1490.

Stínava lies in the immediate vicinity of the Celtic settlement of Staré Hradisko. The chapel of Stínava above the Studánka Sv. Cyrila a Metoděje spring was restored in 1881. Every year, a festive mass is celebrated in the chapel on the feast day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the apostles of the Slavs.
