Ptení is a center of the area around the Romže River and lies approximately halfway between Konice and Prostějov.

Culture and History

The centerpiece is the single-nave Church of St. Martin (Kostel sv. Martina), with a tower and two side chapels with oratories. These are arranged in a cross shape to the north and south in front of the presbytery. The church also has a Gothic portal from the late 14th century, which has been reconstructed and left visible.

The mini-exhibition on the history of Ptení is open during the office hours of the municipal office. The oldest surviving written mention of Ptení dates from 1131. At the beginning of the 16th century, members of the Šarovec family had the local noble residence renovated in the form of a château; Ptení gradually became the center of the Šarovci estate as a result.

Zámek Ptení is a late-Renaissance, multi-story château with round corner towers. It was probably built at the beginning of the 17th century on the site of an earlier fortress. Ptení Château can be visited during events or work sessions. During such events, visitors can see the Knights’ Hall, the hunting salon, or a French-style room.
