Libkov: Hotels and Accommodations

The landscape of Libkov is shaped by the valley of the Lupoměšský potok, bordered by forests and the horizons of the surrounding slopes.

Landscape

Most of the cadastral area of Libkov u Nasavrk lies within the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area. Lipovský Buk in the fields is designated as a prominent cultural landscape feature of Libkov. In the vicinity of Libkov are the mountains of Bučina and Krkanka, which are listed as mountains. The nearby hills include Plesenské (Nasavrky) and Na Vyhlídce (Licibořice), which are listed as hills.

History

The first written mention of Libkov dates from 1329, when the Vilémov Monastery granted the deserted Újezd Bojanov to Jindřich of Lichtenburk for settlement. In 1555, Libkov belonged to the Oheb estate after it had passed from the ownership of the Trčkové z Lípy into the possession of Václav Robmhapt ze Suché. After the estate was divided between two sons in 1564, Libkov remained part of the Oheb estate, which later became known as the Seč estate.

In the past, flax was cultivated on a larger scale in Libkov, then spun and woven at home. The inhabitants once felled timber in the estate forests and transported it to the timber rafting site on the Chrudimka.

Culture

Libkov is one of the places in the Pardubický kraj where the traditional custom of “stínání kohouta” takes place. Granite from the Libkov quarry was selected as suitable building material for the Seč Dam. The Church of Svatý Jiří is located in the wider regional surroundings of Libkov.

The marked cycle route 4112 ran through Libkov and was 42.0 km long; it led from Horní Bradlo to Sezemice.
