Litošice: Hotels and Accommodation

Litošice is characterized by a distinctive geological landscape: the Litošice conglomerates are part of the Železné hory Geopark.

Nature and Geology

Litošice conglomerates occur in the village square and around the pond. The small rock outcrops at the Litošice–Křížový rybník geological site form the stratotype of the Litošice conglomerates from the Cambrian. Further Litošice conglomerates were exposed during the dredging of Křížový rybník and can now be viewed.

West of Litošice, one of the local geological features is an old mining site with spoil heaps. Various volcanic rocks also occur in the vicinity of Litošice. From Křížový rybník, a stream winds through a valley lined by a basalt lava vein and other volcanic rocks towards Seník. Centuries-old oak trees stand on the dam of Křížový rybník in Litošice.

Trails and Activities

The Litocha spring lies in a forest clearing between Litošice and Krasnice. The spring has a rest area, an information board and a visitors’ book. The Litošice–Křížový rybník geological site can be reached via a walkable tourist trail located more than 250 metres from the road.

The forest paths around Litošice are used as cycling routes connecting the Polabí region with the ridge of the Železné hory. The surrounding forest paths are used as cross-country skiing trails during the winter months. In Litošice, the sports facility is currently used for nohejbal, tennis, volleyball, one-basket basketball and small-sided football.

History and Buildings

The Myslivna in Litošice is a picturesque building dating from the late 18th century. In the vicinity of Litošice, Vedralka was built around 1800 as a hunting lodge; its ground floor is masonry, while the upper floor is constructed of wood and features a wooden arbour.

The Krasnice memorial stands near Litošice on the shore of a pond at the site where four partisans were killed. The remains of the building in which they died are located immediately beside it.

Geological Classification

Semtěš–Vlčí skála is a registered geological site of the Czech Geological Survey and an excursion geotope in the cadastral area of Litošice. There is a low, artificially constructed stone table with seating, associated with the legend of Žižkov stůl. The rocks at this site are used for climbing.
