Sopřeč lies in the eastern Polabí region and is surrounded by forests and an attractive natural landscape shaped by the Sopřečský Pond.

Nature and Water

About 1 km southeast of Sopřeč in the Pardubice District lies the Sopřečský Pond, which covers 86 hectares. It was created in the 16th century as part of the Pernštejn pond system and is now primarily considered an ornithological area with waterfowl, as well as an important resting place for migrating geese and ducks.

In the vicinity of Sopřeč are Sušina Hill [Sopřeč], (Nadýmač) Hill [Břehy] and (Zástava) Hill [Vápno u Přelouče]. Sušina is a forest west of Sopřeč and south of Vápno.

Walking Trails and Cycling Route

The Výrovský Circuit is a 6.5 km walking route through the forests between Břehy near Přelouč, Vlčí Habřina and Sopřeč. The yellow-marked Výrovský Circuit also offers a 500 m branch to the Sopřečský Pond.

The 11 km Cycling Route 4272 runs from Výrov via Sopřeč to Chýšť; from Výrov, it follows a forest track across the dam of the Sopřečský Pond, where rare waterfowl can be found.

Culture and History

A statue of Saint Wenceslas stands at the southern end of Sopřeč. It was consecrated in 1876 and created by the sculptor Antonín Okrouhlický.

The Church of Saint George is located in the vicinity of Sopřeč. The memorial book of the mayor of Sopřeč contains entries from 1773 through the beginning of the 20th century.
