Starý Mateřov: Hotels and Accommodation

Starý Mateřov combines a local history dating back to the Middle Ages with clearly defined leisure and event offerings. The first written mention of Mateřov appears in a deed of donation from 1227. At the beginning of the 15th century, Mateřov was the ancestral seat of the Vladykas of Máteřov; the fortress of Mateřov stood on the plot of house no. 1.

History and Buildings

The bell tower with a cross is registered as a cultural monument under registration number ÚSKP 15360/6-2154 and has been protected since 3 May 1958. The wooden bell tower is a small, slender polygonal structure in the shape of a truncated pyramid with a bulb-shaped metal roof. This historic setting is complemented by the traditional wooden cross: it is a folk-style crucifix from the early 19th century, whose corpus Christi has not survived.

Water, Sports and Cycle Path

The Mateřov pond is used for recreational fishing. In winter, it is used for ice skating and hockey. Further sporting activities are available at a multifunctional sports court, which is used for tennis, nohejbal, volleyball and football. A reservation in the booking system is required to access the multifunctional sports court. A cycle path to Pardubice–Popkovice was built in 2017.
