Vlčí Habřina lies at an altitude of 219 metres in a small valley surrounded by forests to the north and south.

Nature

To the west of Vlčí Habřina lies the extensive Sopřečský rybník pond. Vlčí Habřina is also home to Černý Nadýmač, a forest pond with reed beds and alder groves that features rare flora and many species of waterfowl.

Cycling

Local cycle route 4272 passes through Vlčí Habřina in sections 3, 4 and 5. It follows existing paved and unpaved paths and is marked with appropriate road signs. From Vlčí Habřina, the route continues in the direction of Vápno.

History

The “Vlčí jámy” in Vlčí Habřina are the remains of wolf enclosures dating from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. The first wolf pit is almost 3 metres deep and has a diameter of 10 metres; the second wolf pit is larger and has a circumference of 50 paces. South of Vlčí Habřina, the Obora forest, whose name means game enclosure, recalls a former wolf enclosure.

Cuisine

At Knedlíky Kadavý, the tradition of producing traditional Czech dumplings in Vlčí Habřina dates back to 1994. Knedlíky Kadavý prepares its dumplings by hand from the beginning of the production process and cooks the products in water using traditional methods. Freshly cooked dumplings and other products can be purchased directly at the facility in Vlčí Habřina.
