Srnojedy: Hotels and Accommodation

The Elbe forms the cadastral boundary of Srnojedy on one side. At the village’s waterworks, technical installations, water regulation and fish migration come together.

Water and Nature

The Srnojedy waterworks comprise a movable weir, a small hydropower plant, a lock chamber and a boat passage. The original Srnojedy weir was built between 1932 and 1942; it maintains the water level in the reservoir area at 212.99 m above sea level, thereby creating suitable conditions for inland navigation.

The fish pass at the Srnojedy waterworks is located in the left partition wall of the lock chamber, is 1.2 m wide and 41.1 m long, corresponds to the technical chamber-pass type and enables fish migration.

History

In the surviving written historical sources, Srnojedy is first mentioned in 1410. The first owner named was the landed nobleman Jan ze Srnojed, also known by the nickname Tluch. Near the mill, there was also a hereditary ferry service called Košlan.

Getting Around

The Svítkov–Srnojedy cycle path connects at the road bridge over the Elbe, the Rosický most. The completed section of the Svítkov–Srnojedy cycle path is 0.844 km long. The Pardubická Labská Cyklostezka now runs from Svítkov to the centre of Srnojedy.

Local public transport passes through Srnojedy on route 15. The excursion boat Arnošt z Pardubic travels along the Elbe to Srnojedy.
