Horní Heřmanice: Baroque, Folk Architecture and Trails

The church complex in Horní Heřmanice, including the cemetery gate and chapel, is protected as a cultural monument. The Horní Heřmanice Cultural Centre has announced the traditional dahlia exhibition by local gardeners for 5 and 6 September 2026 from 2 p.m. St. George’s Church contains a baptismal font from 1749 with a carving of Christ’s baptism in the Jordan River. The main altar of St. George’s Church features a replica of the pilgrimage image Chrudimský Salvátor. The late Baroque crucifix in the sacred grounds of Horní Heřmanice dates from 1788. The ossuary in Horní Heřmanice is registered as an immovable cultural monument. The statue of St. John of Nepomuk near the church and rectory in Horní Heřmanice dates from 1767.

The old wooden water mill No. 103 in Horní Heřmanice was built in 1748 by Ferdinand Dittrich, who was the brother of Heřmanice’s first parish priest, and is an important example of folk architecture in the Lanškroun area. Horní Heřmanice has well-maintained wooden chalets that are examples of local folk architecture. Country House No. 85 in Horní Heřmanice is a copy of an example of the submontane log-house architecture of the Lanškroun area that originally dated from 1792 and featured a decorated gable; after being damaged in 2006, it was reconstructed as a copy of the original building.
