Nature
The OpatovskĂ© rybnĂky form an important biocorridor for the migration and spread of bird species and other species between Moravia and Bohemia. Around 220 bird species have been recorded in its system to date. HvÄ›zda is the largest and oldest pond in the vicinity of Opatov.
Králova zahrada lies in the headwaters of the ZádolskĂ˝ Stream in the cadastral area of Opatov. In early spring, the area is characterized by a mass occurrence of spring snowflakes. A blue-marked hiking trail from SemanĂn railway station to Svitavy runs near Králova zahrada. From SemanĂn railway station, Králova zahrada can be reached on foot via a paved forest path in less than one kilometer.
Culture and History
The Church of St Anthony in Opatov dates back to the first half of the 13th century. Its tower has a Romanesque base and was built around 1240; the chancel dates from the first half of the 14th century and is Gothic. The Chapel of St John Nepomuk was built in 1722 by the priest Matěj Peška.
Opatov railway station was connected to the Praha–Brno railway line and opened in 1846.
