Opatovec: Hotels and Accommodation

Opatovec lies on the main European watershed. At the same time, a protected forest area, distinctive landscape formations, and diverse sacred architecture shape the character of the village and its immediate surroundings.

Nature and Landscape

Králova zahrada is a nature reserve in the Opatovec forestry district. It protects wet forest ecosystems where the spring snowflake is frequently found. Because of its wind-exposed location, Opatovec is sometimes called “Little Siberia.”

Zámecká hora, a mountain, lies in the surroundings of Opatovec. Drašarov, also a mountain, is likewise located nearby. In the wider regional surroundings of Opatovec lies Řetová, a mountain. Na Vršku [Opatov v Čechách], a hill, is located in the immediate vicinity.

History and Architectural Heritage

The late Baroque Chapel of Saint Wenceslas in Opatovec was built in 1850. It is registered as an immovable cultural monument.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary stands in Košíře. It is a late Baroque, towerless building from 1793 with two Sanctus poles. It was partly structurally altered in 1844. Košíře is also home to a gate complex that became an independent protected cultural monument in December 2007. As part of a simple rural sacred ensemble, it is considered a late Baroque to Neoclassical design element.
