Jarošov lies on the edge of the Toulovcovy Maštale Nature Reserve. The landscape and its distinctive sites range from protected areas and wooded rock formations to historic complexes and viewpoints.

Nature and Trails

The Maštale Nature Reserve also includes the cadastral area of Jarošov u Litomyšle. The Cikánka rock formation lies in the predominantly pine-covered forests west of Jarošov.

The Vranice–Toulovcovy Maštale–Džberka–Vranice circular trail begins and ends in Vranice; the settlement lies in the western part of Jarošov’s cadastral area. A longer route through the landscape is the Maštalská stezka: the 30.5 km circular trail leads through Toulovcovy Maštale, Vranice and Nová Ves u Jarošova.

Jarošov Mountain, Škrabka Hill, Poustecký Hill [Makov] and Golgota Hill [Poříčí u Litomyšle] are each located in the immediate vicinity of Jarošov.

Historical Traces

At “Západní okraj obce” in Jarošov, there is a medieval, now-vanished castle site with surviving fortification remains. The ramparts of a former fortress have also been preserved on the western edge of Jarošov.

Viewpoint

The Toulovcova rozhledna observation tower stands on Jarošovský kopec at an elevation of 539 m between Jarošov u Litomyšle and Budislav in the Svitavy District. The 15 metre-high tower has two viewing platforms and is accessible via 60 steps.

In good visibility, Toulovcova rozhledna offers views of the surroundings of Pardubice and Hradec Králové, as well as the northern mountain belt along the Czech border.
