Sklené: Hotels and Accommodation

The first documented mention of Sklené dates back to 1317; at that time, the village was mentioned as part of the episcopal fiefs in the Svitavy Province.

Location and Routes

Sklené lies approximately 7 kilometres southeast of Svitavy at an elevation of 510 metres. Cycle route 4024 runs through Sklené; cycle route 4064 connects Sklené with Mariánský obraz.

History and Architectural Heritage

The Church of St Peter and Paul acquired its present Art Nouveau appearance during an extension and renovation carried out between 1912 and 1914. At the corner of the church cemetery stands a Baroque mortuary chapel dating from 1739; the church cemetery complex also includes a Baroque gate.

The Baroque Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows was probably built sometime in the first half of the 18th century. Today, only the surrounding walls of the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows remain. The chapel stands beneath a linden tree about 1 kilometre south of the church, beside a field path.

Villagescape and Nature

The “U Havlů” yew tree was designated a natural monument on 24 June 1998. Closed agricultural farmsteads in the Empire style have also been preserved in Sklené.
