Strakov: Hotels and Accommodation

Strakov lies in a gently undulating, slightly hilly landscape. The settlement extends along both banks of the Končinský potok valley, thereby combining built-up areas with surroundings distinctly shaped by forests and bodies of water.

Landscape

The extensive wooded Kozlovský hřbet complex covers more than half of Strakov’s planning area. Its highest point is Nad Zlatou studánkou, at 604 m above sea level.

The Končinský potok flows through the built-up area of Strakov and crosses the planning area in a north–south direction. It rises east of Mendryka and joins the Loučná as a tributary near Cerekvice nad Loučnou. Zlatá studánka is one of the sources of the Končinský potok.

Near the chapel in the Strakov cadastral area stands the Strakovská lípa, protected as a natural monument, on plot no. 591/1. Its AOPK-ČR code is 105548. The broad-leaved lime tree has a trunk circumference of 419 cm, is 26 m tall, and is estimated to be 120 to 150 years old.

Getting around

A red-marked hiking trail to Zlatá studánka leads from Litomyšl via Strakov to the spring. Another red-marked KČT hiking route leads from Litomyšl via Strakov and Strakov, nad Zlatou studánkou, onward to Kozlovský kopec and Česká Třebová.

Two marked cycling routes also run through the area. Cycle Route No. 182 leads via Choceň, Dolní Sloupnice, Litomyšl, Strakov, Janov and Mladějovský vrch to Moravská Třebová. It is approximately 55 km long, moderately difficult and suitable for all types of bicycles; at the same time, it forms part of the Břeclav–Hradec Králové long-distance cycling route. Route 4219 leads from Litomyšl via the viewpoint near Pazucha and the forest complex near Strakov to Semanín. It is approximately 12.5 km long, moderately difficult and suitable for all types of bicycles.

The unmarked route section 4144 connects Zlatá studánka and Strakov over a length of 4.6 km. At Zlatá studánka, visitors can rest on a bench beneath a wooden shelter.

Culture

The brick chapel of the Virgin Mary on the village square was built in 1734 and supplemented with a cast-iron crucifix in 1864. The Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary in Strakov, together with the neighboring cast-iron cross, has been protected as a cultural monument since May 1958.

Strakov was first mentioned in 1347 in a document issued by Breslau Bishop Přeclav of Pogorella.

Local life

At the pond, Strakov has a sports complex with a multipurpose playing field, a covered stage, and tables and benches. The complex is used both for sporting activities and for summer social events.

Road III/03530 provides direct access to Strakov and branches off Road I/35.
