Břasy: Hotels and Accommodation

The Sternberg Crypt was built in 1827 in the pure Empire style. It is the burial place of Kašpar Maria, Count of Sternberg, who is considered one of the founders of palaeobotany. The crypt is opened only on exceptional occasions.

Culture and History

The Railway Museum Stupnowas ceremonially opened on Saturday, 7 September 2024, and is dedicated to the history of the local railway line from Chrást to Radnice.

The educational trail following mining activities in Břasko focuses on numerous remnants of mining and industrial operations in the surroundings of Břasy, Stupno, Kříše, Vranovice and Darová. At the beginning of the route, the Bašta Natural Monument offers a view of a preserved remnant of the mighty upper Radnice coal seam, consisting of high-quality hard coal.

The grounds of the Ultramarinka Leisure Centre originally housed an ultramarine factory. The centre features obstacle elements for cyclists.

Water and Landscape

Vranovické Lake is now a body of water covering approximately 1.2 hectares. It was formed by groundwater flooding areas mined underground; its maximum length and width are approximately 180 × 100 m. Today, the lake is used for recreation, swimming and fishing.

The “Na Vrchách” lookout tower was built in 2013 behind Břasy in the direction of Liblín.

Stones and Views

The Hovězák Stone Circle consists of eight stones around the perimeter and has seating for meditation in the centre. It can be reached on foot from Vranovice or Újezd u Sv. Kříže and is not accessible by car. The stone circle offers an almost complete panoramic view of the surrounding expansive landscape.
