A published 14 km hiking route begins at the Nová Ves turnoff (0.5 km behind Kbel) and leads via Nová Ves, Luh, Vlčí and Stropčice to Borovy. The area around Kbel invites you to enjoy walks and outdoor activities in unspoiled nature.

Cycle Route 2188 runs through the municipality of Kbel. A hiking route also passes through the districts of Kbel.

Landscape

Kbel lies in the long, flat valley of the Kbelský potok stream. Near Nová Ves lies Buzrakov Mountain (Plánický hřeben), while Běleč is a mountain in the wider regional surroundings of Nová Ves. The hills of V Boudách [Vlčí] and Stará pec [Měčín] lie in the immediate vicinity of Nová Ves.

History and Place Names

Nová Ves was established at the end of the 18th century. In historical parish registers, the name Nová Ves Poříčská is also frequently used for the larger part of Nová Ves. The western, smaller part of Nová Ves is still known as Lužanská Nová Ves; formerly, Lužanská Nová Ves was a settlement belonging to the municipality of Vlčí.

Finds from burial mounds in the landscape around Kbel provide evidence of settlement by the West Bohemian group of the Tumulus culture during the Bronze Age.

Culture

The Church of All Saints in Kbel is a Gothic church dating from the 14th century that was expanded into a three-nave church in 1860–1861. The church Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral is located in the wider regional surroundings of Nová Ves.
