Pavlovsko: Hotels and accommodation

In Pavlovsko, archaeological traces, a historic hammer mill and a rocky natural setting come together. The Vrch Žďár archaeological site lies about 2 km north of Pavlovsko.

Culture and history

The Pavlovsko archaeological area points to a long history: written references associated with it date back to the 18th century. As early as 1974, grey, reduction-fired and glazed pottery sherds were found when a trench was being dug by J. Zikmund.

An important technical monument is the Vodní hamr Dobřív, a fully functional structure dating from the end of the 19th century. Its exhibition is dedicated to the history of iron processing in Podbrdsko and metallurgy in Dobřív. The Hamernický den takes place every year on the third Saturday in May on the grounds of the Vodní hamr Dobřív. Visitors can watch apprentices compete in the Dobřívský cvoček skills competition.

The historic village setting also includes the exhibition at the Jindřich Mošna Memorial Hall. It was established in 2005 in a house that was formerly inhabited by his wife's family.

Nature

The Žďár Nature Reserve is also located about 2 km north of Pavlovsko. The protected area preserves natural beech stands on a rocky hill with extensive scree slopes. It also features a block field and remarkable lichen flora.

Trails and rocks

The “Po Žďárských studánkách přes vrchol Žďár” route leads to the Nad Pavlovskem spring and runs along the ridge to the summit of Žďár. The rock formations at the summit of Vrch Žďár offer extensive views of the surrounding landscape.

Permission to climb in the Žďár Nature Reserve is valid annually from 1 July to 31 December. Only the persons expressly named in the permit conditions may also travel off marked trails to the “Malý a Velký oltář” and “Vyhlídková skála” rocks located in the Pavlovsko cadastral area of the Žďár Nature Reserve, and climb on these rocks.
