Litohlavy: Hotels and Accommodation

The Baroque Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary stands south of Litohlavy on Vršíček Hill. It was built between 1744 and 1747 in thanksgiving that Rokycany had been spared a plague epidemic.

Culture

From the east, the chapel can be reached via a serpentine path laid out in 1890 or via a stone staircase. The main staircase has 77 steps, followed by an older straight stone staircase with 7 steps.

The rural farmstead No. 11 in Litohlavy comprises a granary, an enclosing wall with a gate and wicket, a barn, and farm buildings. The Vršíčková pilgrimage in Litohlavy takes place on the first Sunday in July. The traditional event “Rozloučení s prázdninami” takes place once a year in August at the public square “Lomeček” and at the TJ Litohlavy z.s. sports complex. Concerts at the chapel are among the traditional cultural and social events in Litohlavy.

Nature

Vršíček is a wooded hill 441 metres high in the territory of Litohlavy. The Kokotské rybníky educational circular trail is 9 kilometres long and includes 11 stations with information boards about the nature and history of the area around the ponds. The educational trail extends between Smědčice and Litohlavy northeast of Plzeň and is accessible on foot and by bicycle.

In the vicinity of Litohlavy, the Kokotské rybníky educational trail begins and ends at the swimming pool in Nová Huť near Dýšina; parking spaces are available there.

Cycling

Litohlavy is designated as a refreshment stop on the cycling tour described by KČT. A cycling tour described by KČT leads from Rokycany railway station via Litohlavy towards Smědčice and the Kokotské rybníky ponds. Cycle route No. 2153 runs through the northern part of Litohlavy to Smědčice.
