Kbelany has a documented history dating back to 1239, when the village was first mentioned. Until the second half of the 18th century, Kbelany belonged to the Benedictines of Kladruby. Twenty-three farmsteads are recorded for this period.
History
On the village square in Kbelany stands a hexagonal chapel topped with a small turret. There is also a wayside shrine on the road to Rochlov, probably built in the mid-18th century. The sandstone cross in Kbelany is medieval in origin and a rare surviving example of the historical marking of boundaries between individual properties.
Cycling Route
Regional cycling route 2204 runs through the cadastral area of Kbelany along existing local roads, access roads, and farm tracks from Rochlov towards Sulislav.
Landscape
Kbelany has several small ponds as well as a water reservoir on the village square. About 2 kilometres from Kbelany rises Harabaska, a 502-metre-high, wooded hill. The area around Harabaska was formerly a military training ground.
Surroundings
The Harabaska hill is considered a hiking destination in the vicinity of Kbelany. Near Harabaska, visitors may come across overgrown remnants of old trenches and abandoned underground shelters.
