The hillfort of Ostrov u Bezdružic is an important archaeological site. It is located on a spur of land above the confluence of Úterský potok and Blažimský potok.
History and Local Sights
Among the smaller stone monuments in the village is the Boží muka in Ostrov u Bezdružic. It dates from the 16th to 17th century and has a chapel-like structure atop a square shaft.
At a prominent location on the village green stands the Sousoší Nejsvětější Trojice. The small, folk-style sculpture has a pedestal dated 1847. It depicts Christ and God the Father beside a globe crowned with a cross, as well as a dove representing the Holy Spirit on the crossbeam.
Landscape and Surroundings
The “Nad úterským potokem” cycling route passes through Ostrov u Bezdružic. The Novy Dvur Monastery and the mountains of Sténský vrch, Třebouň and Prachometský kopec are located in the surrounding area.
The mountain of Viči hora is located in the wider regional surroundings of Ostrov u Bezdružic. The church “Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral” is also located in this wider regional area.
