Ošelín brings together historic names and buildings. The Ošelín fortress has been documented in writing since 1497.
Culture and History
The present-day building of Ošelín Castle dates approximately from the second half of the 18th century. The Church of Saint Bartholomew in Ošelín is of Gothic origin and was extensively rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1722.
Ošelín is first mentioned in 1379, when it belonged to the knight Oldřich of Ošelín. From 1380 to 1402, Oldřich of Ošelín was a co-patron of the church in Meclov. Before 1413, Ošelín came into the possession of Habart of Malenice and later of Petr the Younger Kovář of Strhaře. The Bigatto family owned Ošelín Castle until 1935.

The Mže River flows near Ošelín. Ošelín railway station is located above the right bank of the Mže.
The green hiking route No. 3607 leads 1 km from Ošelín railway station to the U Mže trail junction. A route approximately 15 km long from Cebiv to Ošelín railway station runs mostly along marked hiking trails.
Cycle Route No. 2222 passes through Ošelín and Německý mlýn and is part of a 41 km-long route.
