The historic centre of Stříbro is designated as an urban conservation zone under Regulation No. 476/1992 Coll. of the Czech Ministry of Culture.

Culture and history

The Renaissance town hall of Stříbro was decorated with sgraffito in the 19th century. Koubkova Gate is part of the fortifications of the southern suburb and was built in the late Gothic style in 1574. The Church of All Saints was remodelled in the Baroque style in the 18th century.

Museum and mining

The Municipal Museum in Stříbro is located in the grounds of a former Minorite monastery. It provides information about local crafts, military history and folk wood carvings and displays farmhouse furniture and typical regional clothing. It also exhibits numerous items originating directly from the local mines.

The open-air mining museum in Stříbro illustrates the history of mining in the region from the Middle Ages to the modern era. Its outdoor area includes an accessible 700-metre-long tunnel.

The only accessible, fully equipped řopík in Stříbro is located on Plzeňská Street opposite the U Branky Hotel. It is opened for occasional events and holidays, including public holidays, celebrations marking the end of the Second World War and European Heritage Days.

In Stříbro, you can take a walk along the Mže. Stříbro can be reached by bus from Plzeň, Planá or Tachov.
