History

The first mention of Poděvousy dates from 1115 and is found in a forgery concerning the ownership of Kladruby Monastery. In the 14th and 15th centuries, Poděvousy belonged to the Hrádek-Lacembok estate. From the 16th century until the end of the feudal era, Poděvousy shared its history with the estates of the Lobkowicz family and later the Trauttmansdorff family in Horšovský Týn.

Many residents of Poděvousy worked in the nearby Výtůň hard-coal mines in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Despite the unclear early history, experts conclude that the village has an early feudal origin.
