Horsovsky Tyn: Hotels and Accommodation

Horšovský Týn has been an urban monument reserve since 1953. The state-owned castle and chateau of Horšovský Týn are among the city's most significant sights.

Culture

Horšovský Týn Castle was founded as a Gothic castle in the mid-13th century and belonged to the bishops of Prague. After the fire of 1547, it was soon rebuilt as a monumental Renaissance castle under John the Younger of Lobkowicz.

Other sights in Horšovský Týn include the Královská rokle educational trail and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul on Republic Square, which has an observation tower. The Anenská pilgrimage takes place every year at the end of July.

Nature

The chateau park of Horšovský Týn covers nearly 40 hectares and is freely accessible from the town. Its lower section contains two ponds, around which walking paths run.

The chateau park was established in 1550 as a Renaissance garden modeled on Italian gardens, redesigned as an English park in 1880, and transformed into a landscape park in 1905.

Paths and viewpoints

The observation tower on Šibeniční vrch is freely open to the public year-round. It offers views of Horšovský Týn and its immediate surroundings, as well as the entire Šumava mountain range and the Český les.
