Srní: Hotels and accommodations

Srní showcases nature and wildlife particularly well at the visitor center: an indoor exhibition there provides information about the lives of wolves and their coexistence with humans. The outdoor area includes a wolf enclosure and an observation footbridge. A roughly 2 km-long educational trail to the wolf enclosure also provides information about the tracks of predators in the Šumava as well as some native trees and plants.

Culture and architecture

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Srní was built in 1804–1805 to replace an earlier wooden church dating from 1788. Its walls are partially clad with shingles. Preserved mountain huts built in the log-house style on stone foundations, with walls protected by shingles, also characterize the traditional architecture of the Šumava in Srní.

The Dům Karla Klostermanna is located in a Baroque rectory dating from 1820. The building houses a thematic interactive exhibition based on Karel Klostermann’s knowledge and interpretation of the Šumava. The Dům Karla Klostermanna opened to visitors on December 19, 2025, and operates year-round.

Water management and viewpoints

The Vodní zámek on Mount Sedlo above Srní is a balancing chamber of a hydroelectric power plant. From the Klostermannova vyhlídka viewpoint near the Vodní zámek, there are views into the valleys of the Vydra and Otava rivers.

Hiking

The 10.5 km-long, easy route “Okolo Kostelního vrchu” starts and ends in Srní.
