Vochov: Hotels and Accommodation

Vochov combines evidence of Bohemian prehistory with a multifaceted industrial history and routes through the surrounding area. Particularly notable is the Vochov Venus: it is considered the first anthropomorphic figurine from the Neolithic period found in Bohemia, and the only fully preserved figurine of its kind found to date in the Czech lands outside Moravia.

Culture and History

The original Vochov Venus can be seen in the prehistoric exhibition of the Museum of West Bohemia in Pilsen. In Vochov itself, the Chapel of Saint Anne commemorates the more recent history of the village; it dates from 1820. A historical educational trail leads through Vochov and includes ten stops.

Routes in the Surrounding Area

The Mže River flows near Vochov. Several routes also include the village: after passing through Křimice, Cycle Route No. 37 continues to Vochov.

At the Svatovojtěšský trojúhelník, pedestrians and cyclists traveled from the railway station in Křimice via Hornička to Vochov. Routes of 6, 10, or 15 kilometers were available. Some participants reached the Cross of Saint Adalbert on the boundary between the cadastral areas of Vochov and Kozolupy.

Brickworks and Industrial History

The brickworks in Vochov was founded in 1830 by Prince Lobkowicz. The Lobkowicz brickworks was known for high-quality bricks, which were used for buildings, chimneys, and durable paving.

The Semler factory also represents the transformation of local production. It began by manufacturing nails and subsequently developed into a wire factory. Under the SEM brand, it mainly produced gramophone needles. In addition, a research group from Závod jaderných elektráren worked at the Semler factory on developing a school reactor that was intended to become the smallest in the world.

Festivals and Historical Traces

Vochovské dožínky is an annual harvest festival in Vochov. In 2025, it took place on Saturday, September 13, from 3:00 p.m. on the grounds near the municipal office.

The historical memorial landscape also includes the pedestal of the Cross of Saint Adalbert. In April 2022, it was moved back to its original location by Okrašlovací spolek Vochov and used for a new installation.

An unusual trace from the era of air raids is the Maskovaná milenka. This was a decoy of the Škoda works in Pilsen, which extended over an area of approximately 100 hectares between Vochov and Vejprnice and was intended to deceive Allied forces during air raids.
