Culture and History
The Chapel of St. Wenceslas opposite the parish house dates from 1883. In the forest 1.5 km south of Čakovec lies a group of burial mounds from the Hallstatt and La Tène periods, dating from the 6th to the 4th century BC.
Next to the church in Čakov stands a village well complex dating from 1869. Archaeological investigations on the outskirts of Čakov revealed settlement remains from the Hallstatt period, including an estate belonging to iron producers.
The Baroque house No. 6 in Čakovec stands on the site of a former Gothic fortress. It was built by monks from the Cistercian monastery of Vyšší Brod.
The Early Gothic Church of St. Linhart in Čakov dates from around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. It stands at the highest point of Čakov and is clearly visible across the surrounding landscape. Inside the church is the gravestone of Jiří Čakovec of Bohuslavice, dating from 1529. It is accessible during services.
Landscape and Cycling Tour
Holubovska Basta is located on the shore of Dehtář Pond, which is used for recreation. A panoramic view of Dehtář Pond can be enjoyed from a hill in the village.
The official 43 km cycling tour „Pedal Through the Budějovicko Region“ passes through Křenovice, Čakov and Holašovice.
