Ceska Kubice: Hotels and accommodations

Česká Kubice offers views over the Šumava. The Čerchov rises above the town: at 1,042 m, it is the highest mountain in the Český les. A sharply defined quartz ridge running through the Český les comes to the surface in Česká Kubice at Na Skále.

Landscape and nature

Česká Kubice is, among other things, one of the starting points for visiting the Český les Protected Landscape Area. The 11 km-long Devil’s Nature Trail with 21 stations runs in the immediate vicinity and is particularly suitable for hiking or mountain biking. The protected natural monument Sokolova vyhlídka is also located nearby, covering an area of 3.5 ha and featuring an outcrop of a quartz ridge.

Cycling and hiking trails

International cycle route No. 3 from Prague via Plzeň to Regensburg runs through Česká Kubice. A considerable section of this route in the area of Česká Kubice has been developed as a cycle path.

A blue-marked hiking trail connects the state border, Česká Kubice and Babylon. Another blue-marked hiking trail runs between Česká Studánka, Čerchov and Pec pod Čerchovem. A red-marked hiking trail also leads from Česká Kubice and is known as “Horizontálka”.

History and culture

The surroundings of Česká Kubice and its districts were an important tourism centre in the pre-war period and were called a “health resort” because of their climatic location. The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua in Česká Kubice and Horní Folmava is listed as an immovable cultural monument.

Railway lines

The Furth im Wald–Domažlice–Plzeň railway line has run through Česká Kubice since 1861. Railway line No. 180 through Česká Kubice connects Plzeň and Domažlice with Germany.
