Ždánov: Hotels and Accommodation

Ždánov combines Augustinian history, religious memorial sites, and a distinctive landscape. At its centre is Ždánov Château, built in 1730 by the Pivoň Augustinians as a summer residence for guests of the Pivoň Augustinian monastery.

Culture

Since 1958, Ždánov Château has been designated a cultural monument. The château complex includes a farmyard on the southwestern edge of the village. Restoration work was carried out on the château’s main portal, restoring the older colour scheme of the Augustinian coat of arms. Opposite the château stands a life-size sandstone statue of Saint Augustine; the statue of Saint Augustine in Ždánov is also registered as an immovable cultural monument.

The Chapel of Blessed Koloman and Saint Pio of Pietrelcina was completed on 23 September 2018 and consecrated by Bishop Mons. Tomáš Holub. A pilgrimage Mass is celebrated in the chapel in October. Near Wendlovna stands a six-metre-high wrought-iron cross, which was restored in spring 2012.

Landscape

Pařezovský kopec is a registered significant landscape feature between Ždánov and Pařezov. The hill offers views of the Český les, including Čerchov and the Haltravský ridge. Endangered orchid species can still grow on Pařezovský kopec.

Villagescape and Routes

The historic centre of Ždánov forms an urbanistically significant compositional space in relation to the village pond. Cycle route 2287 is signposted and equipped with rest and educational infrastructure. Along the 21-kilometre section, information boards provide details about local history and other places of interest.

The restored Červený Mlýn is located in the cadastral area of Ždánov.
