Halámky lies on the right bank of the Lužnice. The Gamza stream runs along the eastern side of its cadastral area and is also called the Halámecký potok further south.

Nature and Landscape

The wooded surroundings of Halámky belong to the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area. The cadastral area of Halámky belongs to the Horní Lužnice Nature Reserve. This nature reserve encompasses the natural course of the Lužnice and its floodplain, with characteristic relief and a mosaic structure of various wetland and meadow communities.

The mountains Hoher Berg, Teichberg, Schindelberg and Machoberg are located in the surroundings of Halámky.

Culture and History

Halámky is home to a reinforced-concrete arch bridge with a deck below the arch and an arch span of five metres, designated as a technical monument. According to tradition, the settlement of Halámky was founded by lumberjacks and charcoal burners.

Historical secondary occupations in Halámky included weaving baskets and Opálky, shallow baskets made of split wood. The production of shingles and charcoal burning were also historical secondary occupations.

The Lunkowitz Cross and Hunter's Cross shrines are located in the surroundings of Halámky. In the wider regional area are the Geyersteine and the European watershed; both are monuments.

Summer and Water

In summer, the administrative area of Halámky is used particularly for recreational cycling. Seasonal water sports activities take place on the Lužnice, whose riverbed touches the western part of Halámky's administrative area.
