Lety: Hotels and Accommodation

At the center of the Lety Memorial is the Memorial Circle. It bears the names of 1,294 registered people who were forced to suffer under intolerable conditions in the local so-called “Gypsy camp.” The individual metal beams of the Memorial Circle display the prisoners’ full names, dates and places of birth, the period they spent imprisoned in the camp, and their individual fates.

In 2024, a new Holocaust memorial for Roma and Sinti in Bohemia was erected in Lety. The outdoor area of the memorial includes the emergency cemetery next to the Lety cultural monument. Part of the grounds of the Lety cultural monument was declared a national cultural monument in 1998. At the torture stake of the Lety memorial, a hanging silhouette of figures designed by Luboš Mazl commemorates the suffering.

Exhibitions and Educational Trails

The indoor exhibition is arranged around four glass columns containing historical objects and includes a circular interactive timeline. It also comprises 16 information points with audiovisual content that is activated through visitor interaction.

The educational trail “Lety u Písku – A Journey Through the Landscape of Memory” leads through a landscape connected with the tragic fate of Roma and Sinti during the Second World War and comprises ten stops. The trail is approximately 3 km long; the recommended walking time is 1.5 to 2 hours.

The Path of Memory is an outdoor exhibition with eight stops featuring audio recordings, visual materials, and texts. The circular route of the Path of Memory bears the names of all the prisoners and symbolizes a place of remembrance and silence.

In the surrounding area, the Orlík Reservoir and Orlík Castle offer opportunities for recreation and active tourism.
