Culture

The Church of St Peter and Paul dates from the Middle Ages and preserves valuable medieval architectural features. These include valuable medieval perimeter masonry, the vault of the presbytery, a northern chapel, portals on the lower level of the tower and leading to the sacristy, as well as wall paintings in the presbytery. It is the most important landmark in the urban heritage conservation zone of Nová Bystřice.

The Museum of Veterans in Nová Bystřice displays more than 70 American classic automobiles in themed halls. Each season, the museum prepares new exhibits, films and comedies for the cinema.

The Stezka vyznání trail presents important moments in the history of the Novobystřicko region on five information panels; these moments are closely connected with changes in the Christian faith. It begins at the church on the square in Nová Bystřice, is just under 50 km long, and all its panels can be reached by car via paved roads.

The Stezka 20. století trail presents the historical development of the local region in the 20th century on two circular routes of 30 km and 19 km. It begins at the square in Nová Bystřice, where an overview panel is located.

Nature

The Blanko Nature Reserve lies within the administrative area of the municipality of Nová Bystřice and includes part of the cadastral area of Mnich u Nové Bystřice. It protects a mesotrophic pond with well-developed shoreline vegetation, as well as a wet meadow.

The Graselova stezka trail in Nová Bystřice begins at the information centre on the town square. It is marked with a yellow disc surrounded by a white letter “G” and leads past the Mnišský and Proudný ponds to Blanko Pond, where a nature reserve is located.

Trails

The long-distance Stezka Českou Kanadou trail is approximately 110 km long, divided into eight stages of 11 to 18 km each, and connects Nová Bystřice with Jindřichův Hradec, Slavonice and Dačice.

The 25 km-long Textilní stezka trail begins behind Nová Bystřice on the road towards Hradiště. At its seventh information panel, it returns to Nová Bystřice. The Textilní stezka is suitable for cyclists.

On the Way

The Jindřichohradecké narrow-gauge railway is operating regular services again. All trains of the Jindřichohradecké narrow-gauge railway have their own bicycle carriage.

The Nová Bystřice Tourist Information Centre provides information about bus and train connections, as well as the narrow-gauge railway and its timetable. During the summer holidays, the operator runs a bistro at Nová Bystřice railway station.
